Northbarrow Room

The brief was not for a bigger house at any cost. It was for one useful room: generous enough for shared meals, quiet enough for reading and open enough to follow the day.

We kept the original roofline legible, then set a dark timber structure behind it. The exposed frame gives the addition rhythm and makes the transition between old and new easy to understand.
